I cannot recommend Pure Country Kennels and Wesley Miller enough. We adopted our boy, Bo, a little over a year ago and we could not be happier. When we brought Bo to the vet immediately after bringing him home, the doctor said he was perfect; healthy in every way. Working with Wesley and his family was an absolute joy - great communication and seamless process. The facilities at Pure Country Kennels were outstanding. Everything was clean and the puppies are raised by Wesley and his family. They are loved and cared for. If you are looking to adopt a Portuguese Water Dog, Pure Country Kennels is the place to go!
We couldn’t be happier with our little Duff. He is perfection. He is healthy, very smart and has personality plus. I have noticed that everywhere we take him he makes people smile. He was beautifully socialized with other people and other dogs. He has no hesitation what so ever to new experiences and doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety. He was very easy to get in a schedule and when he did have an”accident” in the house, it was totally our fault. We have had him for two weeks and he already knows his new name, and knows the following commands: sit, down, shake, twirl, come, and stay for a 5 foot separation. He and his “older brother” play so well together and he gives what he gets. The zoomies are always entertaining and we look forward to them each night.
I want to thank you for your willingness and desire to get to know us well and make sure that we received the right pup. You were always available for us and returned any email, call, or text in a speedy manner. You made the purchase of Duff so easy and the paperwork almost a joy(paperwork is my nemesis). We would DEFINITELY recommend Pure Country Kennels to anyone looking for a healthy and handsomely conformed PWD puppy with a good bloodline. You obviously cared for each of your puppies. Kobe Kai joined our family at a crucial time—four months after he arrived, we had to say goodbye to our 13-year-old chocolate lab and his joyful presence has helped all of us adjust to this major change. He was immediately accepted into the pack by both dogs, but especially by our 1-year-old maltipoo. They have become virtually inseparable, and fill our home with the best kind of chaos. He is a huge snuggler, gentle with our two sons, and very loving.
Kobe is the smartest dog I have ever had the opportunity to train, and is attentive and eager to learn. He is a personable dog who looks you in the eye, pays attention to what you're asking for, and is thrilled when he is rewarded for his good behavior with treats. He came to us fully sensitized and used to being around other dogs and humans. He doesn't mind having his paws or ears touched, and absolutely loves baths. I believe that this early training by Wesley and his family helped him become the great 10-month-old puppy he is today. He is an excellent traveler, and has been on many long road trips in his life already.
We highly recommend Pure Country Kennels in every way. Anyone who brings a dog into their family from Wesley and his kennel is going to add a wonderful member to their pack. We love Kobe Kai and are so grateful that he's with us.

Overall a fantastic experience getting a puppy from Pure Country Kennels. Odie has been the perfect adventure buddy and we quickly formed a strong bond. He has no issues traveling long distances, stays by my side during long hikes, and loves to go swimming. Very easy to train at less than a year old he already is helping us retrieve lake-based sensors. Wes was professional, easy to talk to, and I could easily get any information I needed when going through the process of getting a puppy. The facilities are excellent, and I got to meet the puppy's parents when picking him up. Portuguese Water Dogs are a fantastic breed that I would highly recommend. Because of my positive experience, I would greatly recommend Pure Country Kennels if you have any interest in Portuguese Water Dogs.
